Deutsche Telekom: 100 Mbit/s in 430,000 more homes

May 8, 2018

Increased broadband speeds do not necessarily require network build-out; network restructuring can be just as effective, according to Deutsche Telekom.

Over the last four weeks, the German telco reports that 429,124 households in 386 towns and cities the length and breadth of Germany have benefited from Deutsche Telekom’s network modernisation ( IP migration). Additional lines with upload speeds of up to 100 megabits per second (Mbit/s) and download speeds of up to 40 Mbit/s are now available.

“We are a step closer to our goal of ensuring 80 percent of our lines operate at 50 Mbit/s or higher as soon as possible”, said Walter Goldenits, Chief Technology Officer at Deutsche Telekom. “We are building fast Internet for millions of people.”
