LG Display upping OLED output

South Korea’s LG Display is to increase its output of OLED flat-panel TV displays, say local reports.

LG’s current high-quality production line can produce 60,000 glass substrates a month, according to data, and is working to increase that output level to 70,000 units a month during the second-half of this year.

Part of the reason is an increased demand from LG Display’s wholesale clients, and Loewe, Arceli and Hisense are specifically mentioned as looking for higher OLED volumes.

Sigmaintell Consulting says that globally shipments of OLED TVs reached 510,000 unites in Q1 of this year, up 127 per cent on 2017.

LG’s electronics division accounts for some 70 per cent of the global OLED market, while other significant brands including Sony, Philips and Panasonic are also ramping up OLED deliveries.
