Commercial broadcaster TF1, which will be France’s free-to-air home for the FIFA World Cup in Russia, is launching a dedicated MyTF1 VR Coupe du Monde app on June 14th developed in partnership with FIFA and French start-up LiveLike.
The app will be available free-of-charge on iPhone, iPad, Android devices as well as on Samsung Gear VR headsets. Demonstrated at technology innovation showcase Viva Tech in Paris this week, this immersive experience will offer viewers the chance to live the event and the 28 matches TF1 will broadcast as if they were seated at the best VIP places. They will benefit from three 180° points of view on the football ground, enriched with real-time stats. They will also be able to replay the best actions and access to 360° exclusive content.
TF1 has also developed interactive content – Holo Foot – with another start-up, Immersiv.io, and accessible via Microsoft HoloLens glasses. Users can use a remote control gesture to consult the stats of a match, as well as different points of views or interact with the 3D avatar of their favourite player.
TF1’s VR developments started in 2017 with the launch of My TF1 VR app launched for the sixth season of talent show The Voice which now claims more than 250,000 downloads.
