210 US networks give delivery rights to MobiTV

June 13, 2018

MobiTV, a global player in application-based pay-TV video delivery solutions, has announced it is the first multi-tenant video delivery solutions provider to secure hosted streaming delivery rights for more than 210 major networks, including C-SPAN Networks, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, Fox Networks, Fuse Media Networks, Hallmark Channel, Game Show Network, NBCUniversal, Pac-12 Networks, Reelz, Showtime, Outdoor Channel, The Weather Channel, Viacom, and more, for its managed service option for pay-TV operators of all sizes.

These acquisitions, to date, account for more than 210 networks throughout the US, with more deals set to close before the end of the quarter. These rights will enable the MobiTV Connect managed solution to help operators go to market faster with a cost-effective model that doesn’t require material capital outlays or an upgrade to traditional headend infrastructure.

“The content community has demonstrated tremendous support for the MobiTV managed service and the operators that will soon deploy it,” said Charlie Nooney, CEO and Chairman of MobiTV. “They recognise that the platform provides viewers a superior overall experience and allows operators the ability to maintain a competitive edge in the market in a cost-effective manner to their pay-TV and broadband subscriber base. We are very pleased to provide this industry-first solution, strengthening our role as a leading TV as a Service (TVaaS) provider.”

The soon-to-launch MobiTV Connect managed solution will offer pay-TV subscribers the benefit of a modern user experience enabled across popular streaming devices, while supporting the operator’s content lineup, content policies, branding requirements, billing, authentication, and more. With secured streaming delivery rights from large media brands, MobiTV is now authorised to ingest content once and deliver it in an app-based framework to multiple operators. The platform is turn key and can be deployed within 90 days.

“Viacom is committed to providing creative and effective solutions for distributors of all sizes,” said Sheri Weidner, Viacom SVP Partnerships, Distribution and Business Development. “The MobiTV platform gives our affiliates access to a top-flight multiplatform service customised to their unique channel lineup and subscriber packaging.  We’re excited to be offering them this flexible and innovative solution.”

“The MobiTV platform helps cable operators deploy next-gen services to their customers and simplifies the distribution path of our channels,” said Peter Kiley, Vice President, Affiliate Relations & Communications at C-SPAN Networks. “We’re thrilled to have all three C-SPAN networks on this new platform and ultimately all three public service C-SPANs available to more citizens through MobiTV.”
