Global sports provider Eleven Sports has announced that Pedro Pinto, former Director of Communications at UEFA and sports correspondent and presenter for CNN, has joined Eleven Sports as Non-Executive Director in Portugal.
In his role with Eleven Sports, Pinto will front the UEFA Champions League shows, whilst managing relationships with key media, rightsholders and influencers and aiding production in Portugal.
Previously as Managing Director of Communications at UEFA, Pinto ran all communications activities at European Football’s governing body where he oversaw all corporate messaging, the international press office and the editorial content on all UEFA digital platforms. He also served as the official spokesman for the organisation and hosted the UEFA Champions League draw and awards gala.
Prior to UEFA, Pinto worked as a journalist for nearly two decades, spending 15 years as a sports presenter and correspondent for CNN while also hosting the FIFA Ballon D’Or and working with BT Sport, SportTV and World Soccer Magazine.
“Pedro’s experience in and knowledge of both the Portuguese and international sports market ensures he is the right person to help us build our Portuguese operations as non-executive director. At the same time, as Eleven Sports is establishing itself as the leading player in the sports media market in Portugal, having Pedro as the key anchor for our UEFA Champions League programming will ensure a fresh, fan-centric content offering to the fans.” said Danny Menken, Group Managing Director Eleven Sports.
“Eleven Sports is taking sports entertainment to a whole new level in Portugal and I’m excited to be part of that journey.” said Pedro Pinto, Non-Executive Director Eleven Sports Portugal. “Before a football has even been kicked, Eleven has positioned itself as a leading player, promising to bring sport back to the fans.”
Pinto will start his role with Eleven Sports on July 16th and will work closely with Danny Menken, Group Managing Director Eleven Sports.
