Sony creates smartphone with OLED

Sony’s Xperia XZ3 smartphone has been unveiled at Berlin’s IFA technology, boasting a built-in super-bright 6” OLED screen.

The camera on the phone can record video in 4K and will run the latest version of Google’s Android operating system. It is Sony’s first phone with an OLED display which are acknowledged to be battery-friendly as well as displaying more vibrant colours.

The phone, in video mode, offers a 2880 x 1440 pixel screen, and an extra-wide 18:9 aspect ratio and with a ‘fast start-up’ benefit for image and video capture.

Buyers who pre-order the unit will get a free digital download of the video game Call of Duty: Black Ops. Release date in Europe is reported to be October 5th.
