eSports “too violent” for Olympics
September 4, 2018
Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee, has deemed eSports as being too violent to be part of the Olympics.
Bach said the “so-called killer games” which promote violence or discrimination cannot be accepted into the Olympic Games.
“If you have egames where it’s about killing somebody, this cannot be brought into line with our Olympic values,” he said, speaking at the Asian Games – where eSports are currently being given a demo run.
Last week, two people were shot dead by a gaming rival during an eSports tournament being held in Jacksonville, Florida.
