Atos shares experience and vision for transformation of Broadcast Industry towards IP at IBC

September 17, 2018

Atos, a global player in digital transformation, announces its presence at the IP Showcase at IBC2018 where the Atos Broadcast Network Control System (BNCS) team will be demonstrating its implementation of AMWA IS-07 for NMOS Events and Tallies and sharing its vision for the transformation of the Broadcast industry towards IP/IT and Cloud.

Atos’ renowned Broadcast Network Control System enables supervision and control of hybrid SDI/IP Broadcast ecosystems. It provides a single point of control for the continually expanding mix of media devices and technologies and boosts productivity for broadcast technicians, reducing both the risk of operational error and staff costs. Its evolution is a key step forward in orchestrating the technology transition to IP/IT. Atos is a member of Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and has been actively participating in the organization’s multi-vendor Networked Media Incubator Project.

“Broadcast technology is definitely evolving towards a full convergence to IT and IP based infrastructures and networks. This step is indeed critical and has end-to-end implications across the content supply chain. From production to final consumption, our industry ecosystem is rapidly converging towards a common blueprint that is unprecedented. At Atos, we are proud to be an active player of this major technology transformation process and to contribute through our solution BNCS and our services to the build and run of the IBC2018 IP Showcase in productive collaboration with our industry partners”, said Eric Mariette, VP Media Market at Atos.

The IP Showcase has been a feature at major industry trade shows since IBC2016 and has been instrumental in helping the industry to galvanize behind the standards-based approach to IP. The event is hosted by major technical and standards organizations within the broadcast industry — Audio Engineering Society (AES), Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®), and Video Services Forum (VSF).

Industry-leading vendors and broadcasters will gather at the IP Showcase at IBC2018 to provide instructional and case-study presentations and an array of IP-based product demonstrations highlighting the benefits of, and momentum behind, the broadcast industry’s move to standards-based IP infrastructure for real-time professional media applications.

The IP Showcase will take place in rooms E106 and E107 at the RAI Amsterdam during IBC2018,
