Moriarty leaving AMC Networks

October 1, 2018

AMC Networks has announced that industry veteran Mike Moriarty, President of AMC Networks International (AMCNI) – Central & Northern Europe and UK, has decided to leave the company.

“It has been a privilege to work with so many talented colleagues and friends throughout the years at AMC Networks and, prior to that, at Liberty Global,” commented Moriarty. “I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved in establishing AMC Networks International as a global provider of excellent, sought-after content, especially throughout Central and Northern Europe and in all of the countries we cover through the UK division. With AMCNI’s strong position in these regions, I see this as the right time to explore new opportunities. I am especially looking forward to spending some more time with my family.”

“Mike has been a valuable contributor who has played a vital role as we’ve expanded AMC Networks’ global footprint and established AMCNI as a leading global channel group and content provider,” added Ed Carroll, AMC Networks’ Chief Operating Officer. “Mike has done outstanding work, particularly in developing the successful CBS Channels in the UK and creating a strong business in Central and Northern Europe. We deeply appreciate his many contributions to the company over his long tenure and wish him much success in his next chapter.”

Moriarty was appointed President of AMCNI – Central & Northern Europe and UK in 2014 following AMC Networks’ acquisition of Liberty Global’s international content division called Chellomedia. While at Chellomedia, Moriarty spearheaded the company’s expansion into Central Europe, from what was a small group of minority-owned channel joint-ventures to creating what is today a thriving operating unit, with 13 strong brands available across 30 countries in Europe, making AMCNI the largest pay-TV content provider in the region. Following his appointment to oversee AMC Networks International’s UK region in 2014, Moriarty rapidly grew that division with the successful launch of new channels, including the launch of original productions on the portfolio of CBS Channels, which includes CBS Reality, CBS Action, CBS Drama and Horror Channel.

Moriarty will be stepping down from his position at the end of October.
