German viewers are buying into Ultra HD at a pace. Data from market research company GFU shows that in 2018, German consumers bought some 3.5 million Ultra HD TV sets.

GFU’s Consumer & Home Electronics Division said the purchases represent a 53 per cent share of the market in terms of units sold, and at an average price of €917. However, because Ultra HD prices are so much higher than HD-equipped sets, the market share by value rocketed to 81 per cent.

The research states that 54 per cent of German consumers say that their main objective when purchasing a TV is for a larger screen, with 44 per cent seeking better resolution.
