BBC, Discovery wildlife SVoD partnership?

February 7, 2019

The BBC and Discovery are reportedly teaming up for a new subscription streaming service that will give access to its combined library of natural history and wildlife programming.

According to the FT, the streaming service will be owned by Discovery, with the BBC licensing its back catalogue of natural history programmes including titles such as Blue Planet and Dynasties. Discovery Channel and Science Channel will also be available on the service, according to FT sources.

The service is said to be slated for a global launch later this year – excluding the UK and China.

Neither Discovery or the BBC have yet to officially comment on the service.
