NBCUniversal acquires The Murders

NBCUniversal International Networks (NBCUIN) has announced its acquisition of new procedural drama The Murders, from About Premium Content (APC) to air in Europe and Africa. A Muse Entertainment original series in association with CityTV, a division of Rogers Media, created by Damon Vignale (Motive, Blackstone), the eight one-hour episodes will premiere from mid-2019 in the UK and Africa on Universal TV, and on 13TH Street in France, Spain Germany and Poland.
The Murders is a dynamic crime series following the determined, yet fallible, rookie Homicide Detective Kate Jameson, played by Jessica Lucas (Gotham). When Kate makes a critical error on the job – with fatal consequences – she becomes driven not only from a need to measure up to her father, a highly decorated Detective killed in the line of duty, but to rectify her own costly mistake. Set in bustling Vancouver, Kate must grapple with guilt and challenging personal and professional relationships, as she navigates complex cases where values and loyalties will be tested. In a contemporary city, fuelled by technology, each case is explored through the lens of the five senses, revealing the key part they play for both the criminals and the police officers in a digital era.
The Murders also stars Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black) as Detective Nolan Wells, who is partners with Kate in Homicide; Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale) as Mike Huntley, a detective who is a former colleague of her father’s; Terry Chen (The Expanse) as Bill Chen, the Homicide Staff Sergeant; and Luvia Peterson (Continuum), as Meg Harris, a fellow detective and friend to Kate. Also appearing in the cast is Venus Terzo (Arrow) as Rita Gallo, Kate’s mother, who has political ambitions.

The Murders is produced by Muse Entertainment in association with CityTV, a division of Rogers Media. Damon Vignale is creator, showrunner and an executive producer alongside Jesse Prupas, Michael Prupas, Shawn Williamson, Jamie Goehring and Jessica Lucas. Arielle Boisvert is a producer. APC is overseeing international sales.
