Netflix to create more interactive content
March 13, 2019
Netflix is set to increase its focus on producing interactive content following the success of the Black Mirror episode Bandersnatch.
The episode, released in December 2018 and inspired by choose-your-own-adventure novels, allowed viewers to make key decisions for the lead character as he attempts to create and launch a video game in the mid-80s.
Speaking at the media and entertainment conference FICCI-Frames in Mumbai, Todd Yellin, Netflix VP of product, said: ““It’s a huge hit here in India, it’s a huge hit around the world. We realised, ‘Wow, interactive storytelling is something we want to bet more on.’”
“We’re doubling down on that,” he added, Variety reports. “So expect over the next year or two to see more interactive storytelling. It could be a wacky comedy; It could be a romance, where the audience gets to choose—should she go out with him or him?”
