John Malone is reportedly looking to add MSG Networks to his portfolio of assets.

Malone already controls Liberty Media and Liberty Global, has significant stakes in Discovery Communications, SiriusXM, the Atlanta Braves and it is said to be a prime contender to buy the former Fox-owned 21 regional sports networks that must be sold as a result of Disney’s acquisition of Fox-owned assets.

MSG is the broadcast home of the NBA’s New York Knicks and NHL’s NY Rangers and NY Islanders teams.

MSG Networks has its home at the famous stadium in mid-town Manhattan, and is owned by the Dolan family’s Cablevision system.

As well as the flagship MSG channel the company broadcasts secondary channels MSG-2 and MSG Plus 2.
