The Spanish Administration will give €20 million in public funds to two 5G pilot schemes to be carried out by Telefonica and Vodafone, according to Expansion.
The operators will receive €10 million each to implement the pilot. Telefónica will carry out its pilot in Galicia, north of Spain, along with Ericsson and Nokia. Vodafone will do the same in Andalucia with Huawei.
Orange and a MasMovil, along with other 9 bidders, have been left out of this first 5G pilot phase.
