Sony sells off Crackle

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is selling its VoD service, Sony Crackle, to Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (CSS).
Chicken Soup, an AVoD network operator, will own a majority stake in the streaming video service which will be rebranded as Crackle Plus. Chief Executive Officer Bill Rouhana predicted the venture “will more than double the revenue” for CSS.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In January, CSS acquired Ashton Kutcher’s digital media company APlus.com for $15 million.
