Singapore: The new dawn of StarHub Entertainment
April 1, 2019
StarHub is boldly bidding farewell to old school TV, and heralding a brand new StarHub Entertainment experience with the debut of its simplified line-up of entertainment passes. First to offer a no-contract option, remove set-top box rental fees and provide free multi-screen viewing; the new StarHub Entertainment passes promise simplicity, flexibility and greater value. Customers can now choose from seven passes and enjoy the freedom to seamlessly switch between passes at anytime, anywhere, free of restrictions. All new and existing StarHub customers can sign up for the new entertainment passes.
With the removal of the outdated inflexible basic groups, the overhauled StarHub Entertainment proposition streamlines over 50 bundles to only seven neat passes – English Entertainment Pass, Movies Pass, Asian Entertainment Pass, Malay Entertainment Pass, Indian Entertainment Pass, Filipino Entertainment Pass and Sports Pass. In addition, customers have the flexibility and can conveniently switch between the seven passes at any one time using the My Account online portal. For example, a customer subscribed to the English Entertainment Pass can simply log in to My Account to switch to the Movies Pass and catch the final season of Games of Thrones on HBO. The entire switching process is easy and can be repeated as often as customers desire.
“In December 2018, we started our #HelloChange journey with the launch of our new SIM Only mobile plans. Our bold move in the mobile space was overwhelmingly well received by our customers. Building on the voices of what customers want, and in keeping with our brand promise to innovate, today we are excited to revolutionise the way entertainment is presented to our customers,” said Mr Johan Buse, Chief of Consumer Business Group, StarHub.
“We are pleased to remove clutter, unshackle handcuffs and enhance transparency by slashing the outdated model of basic groups, getting rid of hidden fees and removing set-top box rental charges. Hidden fees are a thing of the past – the price you see is the price you will pay. Over time, we are committed to introducing even more sweeping changes to delight and entertain our customers,” added Mr Buse.
Recognising that viewing habits have evolved with more customers preferring to consume content on the go, StarHub has enhanced its multi-screen viewing experience under the new StarHub Entertainment Pass. All customers will now receive the StarHub TV Go value-added service without any additional charge, allowing them to watch their favourite live channels at anytime, anywhere, on any device on StarHub Go. Aligned with the company’s worry-free data commitment, all StarHub Mobile postpaid customers can stream unlimited content on StarHub Go without incurring any local data charges
As the cherry on top of the icing, customers subscribed to the passes can also enjoy complimentary access to the respective StarHub’s partners’ apps. This includes the popular BBC Player for English Entertainment Pass subscribers and HBO GO for Movies Pass subscribers.
Customers with StarHub Fibre Broadband can sign up for one pass at $29.90 a month with a 24-month contract or opt for a no-contract option according to the different tiers of savings. Customers also have the freedom to add on more passes best suited to their needs.
From 1 April onwards, the first 5,000 customers who sign up for the 24-month contract plan will receive an additional pass for free, worth $429.60, for the whole contract period. Customers can sign up for the new entertainment passes via the StarHub Online store.
