BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR SCREEN ENTERTAINMENT CONFIRMS SHORTLIST FOR THE 2019 BASE AWARDS
April 23, 2019
After weeks of deliberation, culminating in two spirited judging days, the British Association for Screen Entertainment is pleased to announce the shortlist for the 2019 BASE Awards.
In a year that has seen an unprecedented level of change in the home entertainment category, the number of entries to the BASE Awards has not wavered, testament to the passion and hard work that forms the backbone of our diverse and brilliant industry. With that in mind, this year the shortlist has been expanded for categories that received a higher number of submissions, a decision that was made to add an extra note of celebration around the surfeit of entries and reflect this exceptional level of interest.
In the Awards’ 39th year, BASE is once again debuting new categories to recognise a broader spectrum of creativity and innovation, as well as welcoming entries for the PR and Publicity Initiative of the Year award from agencies as well as distributors. In addition, and due to an overwhelming number of submissions for Creative Marketing Initiative of the Year, the award has been split into Single and Multiple Product categories. Finally, BASE has also introduced a £25m+ award for Campaign of Year – Film to ensure competitive judging, whilst also honouring the triumphs of a broader range of titles.
Comprised of 24 categories, the shortlist sees 32 companies represented across the industry, including retail, distribution and creative and media agencies. All of this year’s winners will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place at Tobacco Dock on Thursday 6th June, with new host, Richard Ayoade.
Liz Bales, Chief Executive, British Association for Screen Entertainment, said: “This year, more than ever, we are incredibly proud to share the shortlist for the 2019 BASE Awards, with the larger list reflecting an abundance of truly impressive work that rightly deserves to be showcased. Against a backdrop of category challenges, the robust level of entries this year is truly heartening, and testament to the dedication and excellence consistently shown by the entrants.
I would like to thank our dedicated moderators and judges for their endless integrity and enthusiasm, and their valuable time spent on the judging process. Many thanks also go to our entrants, both from within the BASE membership and from colleagues across the wider industry, we look forward to celebrating with you all in June.”
