May 3, 2019

According to data science firm Parrot Analytics, YouTube original series Cobra Kai is currently the most in-demand digital original series in the world.

Cobra Kai
is also the most in-demand digital original in the US during the period April 24th to April 30th; demand was 41 per cent higher than the second most in-demand digital original, The Act (Hulu).

Season 2 of Cobra Kai premiered April 24th and in just three days, the second season was already 136 per cent more in demand than Season 1 in the same three-day time period in the US.
Compared to other linear and digital TV shows, season 2 of Cobra Kai generated more U.S. demand seven days after premiere than the season 2 debuts of The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon) and Atlanta (FX) during the same period.
“Clearly the second season of Cobra Kai is off to a really successful start,” said Samuel Stadler, VP Marketing, Parrot Analytics. “Our 7-day data snapshot shows Cobra Kai is not only the most in-demand digital original in the United States right now, it is also the most in-demand digital original in the world. This is a phenomenal result and shows that the story and characters really resonate on a global scale.”
In addition, Cobra Kai Season 2, episode 1 hit 20 million views in 6 days, according to YouTube, making it the fastest YouTube Original episode to hit 20M views.
Cobra Kai is written and executive produced by Josh Heald (Hot Tub Time Machine), and Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar, Blockers). Together, the trio conceived the new Karate Kid storyline that picks up decades after the original film.
