Sportitalia to launch 4 new FTA channels in July

Italian broadcaster Sportitalia will expand its FTA offer on DTT from July, with the launch of four new thematic TV channels.
Sportitalia HD, SI Solo Calcio, SI Motori and SI Live24 will all be available on the same multiplex on channel 60.
In order to watch the new SI Smart offer, viewers will need a Smart TV (present in 27.5 per cent of Italian households) equipped HbbTV support. Those viewers whose Smart TV does not support HbbTV will be able to download the Sportitalia app.
Users will be able to access the new channels free of charge, without a set-top box or subscription, via the red button on their remote control. Also available will be archive material on demand.
Sportitalia’s partners in the new project are sports data OTT solution provider Sportradar and Italian engineering company Kineton.
Sportitalia covers sports ranging from football and basketball through to more specialist sports like futsal, handball and motorsport.
It is estimated that currently 1.5 million viewers tune in to Sportitalia daily.
