South Korea: Netflix subs up 192% YoY

The number of Netflix subscribers in South Korea has nearly tripled year-on-year to over 1.8 million mark according to Wiseapp, a smartphone app service market research company in the country.

Netflix is estimated to have 1.84 million active streaming subscribers as of June, compared with 630,000 users during the same period a year earlier – an increase of 192 per cent in the country.

The research showed that most Netflix users in South Korea are in their 20s (38 per cent), followed by 31 per cent in their 30s and 15 per cent in their 40s.

Netflix has added a range of high-profile South Korean content in recent times to attract viewers in the country, such as big-budget TV dramas Mister Sunshine, Kingdom and Arthdal Chronicles.
