Prime Video announces docuseries Inside Borussia Dortmund

July 17, 2019

A top club at close quarters – Borussia Dortmund is the first Bundesliga team to offer a unique and unprecedented look behind–the-scenes of a German top football club. From August 16th, the four-part Amazon Original sports docu-series Inside Borussia Dortmund will provide exclusive insights of the entire BVB team with the first three episodes releasing weekly every Friday, and the finale episode streaming on September 13th. Inside Borussia Dortmund will be available to stream for Prime members worldwide and has been produced and directed by the award-winning filmmaker and football documentarist Aljoscha Pause (Being Mario Götze; Tom Meets Zizou: Kein Sommermärchen; Trainer!).

Inside Borussia Dortmund provides an inside look into the furious start of the recent Bundesliga season, in which BVB had regained its former strength and developed new team spirit. With outstanding performances on the pitch, the long unbeaten team catapulted itself to the top of the standings. However, the strong start was followed by some obstacles, as the way back from the winter break was more than arduous for the team. The four-part documentary series shows the team’s difficulties in building on the results of the first half of the season and how their lead over the competitors was steadily dwindling. Prime members get an exclusive opportunity to accompany the team in their relentless battle for the title of German Football Champion – which culminated in one of the most exciting season finals in years. In addition to intimate insights, Inside Borussia Dortmund will feature stars of the team such as Marco Reus, Axel Witsel and Jadon Sancho as well as head coach Lucien Favre and club management including Hans-Joachim Watzke, chairman of the BVB management board, and former BVB and now Liverpool FC head coach, Jürgen Klopp.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better fitting name than Inside Borussia Dortmund, since this series truly provides an inside look at our club which we were delighted to give in an unprecedented way”, explains Carsten Cramer, Borussia Dortmund’s Chief Marketing Officer. “From what I have seen so far, Amazon Prime members can be excited of what they will get to see from behind-the-scenes of a professional football team, and by telling who we are and what we stand for – intensity, passion and ambition – we are looking forward to reaching out worldwide to existing but also to new friends and hopefully future fans of Borussia Dortmund.”

“We are delighted that sports enthusiasts across the globe have the opportunity to get an unprecedented look behind the scenes of Borussia Dortmund,” says Dr. Christoph Schneider, Managing Director, Amazon Prime Video Germany. “Inside Borussia Dortmund adds to our selection of critical acclaimed sports docuseries coming out of Europe including Six Dreams and All or Nothing: Manchester City, and marks the first time that a top German club gives cameras access to its inner sanctums. We’re excited to share this unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to one of Germany’s top clubs with Prime members worldwide.”
