OSN ends Netflix access

August 5, 2019

Dubai-based OSN (the former Orbit-Showtime) is no longer allowing access to the Netflix app for its pay-TV subscribers using OSN’s set-top box.

Letters have gone to OSN subscribers saying that Netflix would not be available from August 11th although they could continue viewing via smartphones and other portable devices. However, it seems that the option of viewing Netflix via a consolidated OSN monthly statement is now ended.

The letter to subscribers says: “We would like to inform you that as of July 12, 2019, we will not be able to receive Netflix invoices via OSN due to a decision to remove the Netflix application from the OSN receiver on August 11, 2019. To continue watching, update your payment method and download Netflix on your smartphone, mobile, tablet or website.”

Netflix has been available via OSN’s set-top boxes since February 2018.

According to BroadcastPro ME, Netflix says the decision to quit the OSN set-top box access was “mutual” and that after August 11th Netflix would discontinue supporting OSN as a payment option for viewers.

OSN has also cancelled access to the Pehla bouquet of channels in July.
