Entertainment One using 3Vision’s Show Tracker service

August 9, 2019

Independent studio Entertainment One is joining a growing list of major distributors (most recently All3Media) and buyers in using the 3Vision Show Tracker tool to drive forward their global distribution plans.

The 3Vision Show Tracker service tracks the distribution of over 300 scripted TV series in major global markets and monitors over 22 parameters related to the show distribution, including catch-up utilisation, second window and genre. In an increasingly complex acquisition ecosystem the tool delivers crucial information for buyers and sellers.

“We are seeing unprecedented levels of change in the scripted TV market – new rights requirements, new windowing dynamics and significant shifts in the way shows are finding their revenue potential,” advised Jack Davison, EVP at 3Vision. “Seventy seven per cent  of shows sold to Free TV in first window in the 2018/19 season offered extensive catch-up (in-season stacking or box sets) – that’s a 33 per cent  point increase from the 16/17 season. As broadcasters are utilising shows for longer and with more rights (as the BBC’s iPlayer plan to do) distributors need to consider impacts on downstream revenues (potential for second window SVOD deals).”

Show Tracker helps content businesses understand the impact of changes by capturing and analysing large amounts of detail around show deals.

“The continued increase in and growth of OTT platforms globally combined with audience demand for ‘TV anytime, anywhere’ has increased the complexity of licence deals as well as providing further opportunities for distribution,” commented Nick Yelland, Director, International Research, eOne. “We are looking forward to gaining new insight into this rapidly evolving marketplace through 3Vision’s Show Tracker.”
