Microgrid Experience Center open for business

August 22, 2019

WES (Worldwide Environmental Services) is pleased to announce its sponsorship and participation in the Microgrid Experience Center, an exciting and unique feature, at SCTE•ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2019. Located on the exposition floor (booth 2543) and intended to provide an innovative, customized educational experience for attendees, WES has teamed up with the EMerge Alliance and SCTE to introduce an instructive, one of a kind 3D Virtual Microgrid Demonstrator and ‘first-ever’ electronic Micro-pedia at the Center.

Building upon initiatives generated by the Microgrid Working Group within the Energy Management Subcommittee of the ANSI-accredited SCTE•ISBE Standards Program and in conjunction with the Energy 2020 program, the EMerge Alliance, WES and other partners will use the Microgrid Demonstrator to educate participants via a 3D virtual microgrid experience. Visually representative in its display of how microgrids operate, the system will instruct users on their basic architectures and operating modes.

In addition, the Experience Center will feature an electronic, self-directed microgrid encyclopedia, called The Micro-pedia.  It contains information about: microgrid value propositions and business models; operational architectures, modes and transactional management capabilities; applications by type of ownership, end market use and system scale; AC, DC and hybrid coupling technologies; and system anatomy, including supply, storage, and system and load management resources.

Improve your understanding of the importance of microgrids by experiencing a demonstration conducted by a ‘virtual’ on-screen expert, followed by the opportunity to explore the Micro-pedia for further discovery and discussion.  Visitors to the Experience Center will receive a complimentary link to an online version of Micro-pedia in order to continue their educational journey long after the Expo ends. Demonstration times:  Tuesday and Wednesday on the hour from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, and on Thursday on the hour from 10:00 am until noon.
