Discovery has announced the promotion of Katie Coteman to Vice President – Advertising and Partnerships from Senior Director of Commercial Operations, effective immediately in line with its newly expanded portfolio and Ad Sales proposition.
“Katie has been a dedicated member of Discovery’s Ad Sales team since she joined the company almost 10 years ago,” said James Gibbons, EVP General Manager UK & ANZ at Discovery. “She acted as a commercial lead on the launches of Quest, Quest Red and DMAX in free-to-air and managed the integration of Ad Sales functions for UKTV and Scripps channels. Under her leadership digital revenue has grown rapidly and it goes without saying that her promotion is much deserved.”
In her new role, Coteman leads the Ad Sales, partnerships and digital sales strategies for Discovery’s 18 channel brands in the UK; and Kirsty Baker and Alex Hodge join Discovery in the newly created positions of Director of Partnerships and Content and Director of Ad Sales and Programmatic with a focus on developing brand partnerships and digital revenue.
The appointments follow the rebrand of Discovery’s Ad Sales team to ‘superpowered by Discovery’ to reflect the new scale of the business, following the completion of its deal with the BBC for UKTV, and ambition to connect advertisers with Discovery’s passionate communities of fans across all platforms.
Discovery says its new portfolio includes 18 channel brands, reaching more than 35 million viewers every month with an 8 per cent share of commercial impacts.
