SIS deploys Simplestream Media Manage

September 5, 2019

Simplestream, the leader in live, live-2-VOD and on-demand OTT services, has announced that Simplestream Media Manager is to be deployed by SIS (Sports Information Services) to distribute live horse and greyhound racing video globally to its customers.

“SIS chose Simplestream’s Media Manager primarily because our cloud-based solutions are proven, flexible, high-quality and meet the SIS requirement for low latency, security and redundancy, all of which are critical when betting is involved,” said Dan Finch, Chief Commercial Officer of Simplestream. “I think the clincher was our combination of in-depth knowledge of the sports betting industry and our ability to meet all SIS’s needs while also controlling costs by enabling SIS to configure CDN delivery for each customer. We’re delighted to add SIS to our roster of sports clients and look forward to enabling it to keep itself lengths ahead of the competition.”

The award winning Simplestream Media Manager white-label OTT solution encompasses live and live-event streaming, catch-up, VOD, EPG, cloud DVR, security, CDN switching and configuration, and secured downloads. The solution includes a multi-platform application framework, OTT workflow, account management, billing, analytics and 24/7 technical support.

“Distributing horse and greyhound racing live pictures requires a high-level of security, redundancy and very low-latency, features that have not always been associated with cloud-based systems. Yet at the same time we require systems to be highly flexible and cost-effective, where the cloud has so much to offer,” said Chris Thornton, Head of Engineering and Distribution, SIS.

“Testing Simplestream’s Media Manager solution assured us that this cloud implementation really is ready to meet both sets of requirements. I’m particularly excited about how Media Manager will enable us to scale and onboard new customers almost instantly as well as servicing operators in new countries without a high-level of CAPEX, all key enablers that can really drive our business forward,” concluded Thornton.
