Beximco Communications Limited (BexCom), a provider of digital pay TV services in Bangladesh, has selected Irdeto to securely deliver content through its Direct-to-Home (DTH) service, AKASH. As the only active holder of a DTH license in the country, BexCom launched its new platform using Irdeto Cloaked CA to ensure the highest levels of security for its premium content.
DTH digital pay TV services are expected to grow significantly in Bangladesh, a market traditionally dominated by analog cable services, and with APAC pay TV revenues as a whole expected to grow by 3% annually between 2018 and 2023 (according to Media Partners Asia), BexCom’s AKASH DTH service aims to capitalize on this opportunity, offering 110+ SD & HD channels.
“As a leader in digital TV services in Bangladesh it is important that we continue to innovate and offer a combination of premium content, delivered securely, and a great user experience,” said DS Faisal Hyder, CEO, BexCom. “The right security partner is a key part of ensuring success and Irdeto’s consultative approach, alongside its strong product offering which meets both our technical and commercial needs, makes it the perfect partner for AKASH.”
“As the digital pay TV market in Bangladesh grows rapidly, there is a huge opportunity for digital TV services that meet consumer demands as they evolve and BexCom understands this opportunity,” said Doug Lowther, CEO, Irdeto. “BexCom is ensuring a future-proof service that gives consumers the content they desire along with a great user experience, and we look forward to the great success of its AKASH platform.”
Irdeto Cloaked CA is a key solution offered in the Irdeto 360 Security suite, which is designed to ensure future-proof end-to-end security that can quickly and easily react to changes in the market in a cost-effective fashion. By partnering with Irdeto, BexCom ensures that its DTH service offers the highest levels of security, as required by content owners.
