September 27, 2019

BT has appointed Andy Haworth in the newly created role of Managing Director of Sports Rights and Commercial, managing BT’s growing sports rights and commercial business. At the same time, Cindy Varga has been appointed as Managing Director of Strategy and Transformation for the Consumer Division.

Haworth’s role has been created to spearhead BT’s renewed efforts to grow viewers and revenues for BT Sport. He will continue to report directly to Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer division after leading BT Consumer’s strategy and content teams for just under a decade.

Varga has extensive industry experience at both Liberty Global and Vodafone plc, and formerly was a Principal at Bain & Company in their TMT group. She will join the company on Tuesday October 8th to lead the strategy and transformation team, reporting to Marc Allera. Varga will work closely with Mike Sherman, BT Group’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Director, and join his extended strategy leadership team for BT Group.

Allera said: “During his time at BT, Andy Haworth has done an excellent job of leading our consumer strategy and has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to deliver market defining strategies. With a new role focusing on accelerating the growth of BT Sport, Andy is a great asset as we continue to create the best TV and Sport experience for our customers. I am delighted to welcome Cindy Varga to BT, bringing a wealth of experience both in strategy and the technology industry. Cindy takes on a fantastic team at a truly exciting time, developing the strategy that will shape how we provide our customers with the best connections, products, services and experience in the UK.”
