Sports Channel Network (SCN) is teaming up with UK Wrestling to provide a free to air TV platform for grapple fans.

UK Wrestling is a leading brand in British Wrestling, offering some of the best action from some of the most dynamic wrestlers on the independent scene. With action packed family entertainment and regular episodic storylines, the events all lead to the annual flagship event Wrestlebration.

SCN CEO and Founder Paul Coster commented: “We are delighted to sign this agreement with UK Wrestling and look forward to showcasing their best content. We want to add value to sports who already have OTT platforms and content. We offer the opportunity to reach a wider audience via free to air and to share advertising revenues that we generate. SCN (Channel 266 on Freeview and YouView and Apps) is developing fast and we will work hand in hand with sports to promote content and raise awareness.”

Jonathan Sedgwick, founder of UK Wrestling, added: “This agreement with SCN is not just a media agreement but a way to help build awareness of the thriving independent wrestling scene. There is a massive growth potential in the UK and being able to reach more people via a free-to-air platform will help us boost our brand. The world stars who have become household names on WWE all need to start somewhere and we want to give younger wrestlers that opportunity in the UK.”

UK Wrestling held its first live show back in 2009 when the Wrestlebration event was born. The show has since gone on to become one of the biggest events on the UK wrestling calendar.
