Amazon has revealed that the third series from The Walking Dead universe will be coming to its Prime Video streaming service in the Spring of 2020.
The series follows the global success of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
“TV audiences around the world have demonstrated their passion for The Walking Dead universe, and we are so excited to bring this next iteration to our Prime members,” said Brad Beale, Vice President of Worldwide Licensing for Amazon Prime Video. “An exciting and heartfelt survival story that will have our viewers sitting on the edge of their seats, this next series from the world of The Walking Dead will make an excellent addition to the growing catalogue of global event series available to Amazon customers.”
The new, as yet untitled, series will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come of-age in the zombie apocalypse.
Amazon Prime Video will carry the series across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe (excluding Spain and Portugal), while AMC Networks International will air it on AMC in Latin America, Spain, Portugal and North America.
“The Walking Dead represents some of the most compelling and coveted IP in the world, so we are extremely thrilled to have lined up international distribution of the third television series in the expanding universe of The Walking Dead with Amazon Prime Video and AMC Networks International,” said Valerie Cabrera, senior vice president of worldwide content distribution for AMC Studios. “A franchise and story that is rooted in our collective humanity, the appeal of The Walking Dead crosses language and cultural barriers and we can’t wait to share this highly-anticipated series with fans around the globe next year.”
