ENENSYS announces new software for SmartGate and MediaCast solution

October 10, 2019

ENENSYS Technologies, a provider of media delivery solutions, is announcing new software updates for SmartGate-ATSC, its ATSC 3.0 Broadcast Gateway and MediaCast-ATSC its ATSC 3.0 packager.

SmartGate-ATSC associated to MediaCast-ATSC comes as bundle and turn-key solution to implement latest-state-of-the art ATSC 3.0 head-end. MediaCast-ATSC ingests the different content streams such as Linear TV channels and non-real time data services from the source encoders and servers. SmartGate-ATSC manages the ATSC 3.0 RF channel resource allocation and processes the different (ROUTE/MMT) IP services from the MediaCast-ATSC. This global solution, which is fully software based and virtualized, is already in operation in the majority of the ATSC 3.0 early trials in the US.

“Our global strategy is to stay at the forefront of the ATSC 3.0 development implementing cutting-edge technologies as key parts of our solution that will authorize Broadcaster’s to deploy ATSC 3.0 commercial service rapidly and efficiently” says Eric PINSON, Director of Terrestrial market at ENENSYS.

These new software releases implement advanced features such as Electronic Service Guide (ESG) data processing, supporting different ESG data formats (OMA BCAST, PSIP PMCP, XMLTV formats) and Application based service broadcasting. It also provides the link to a Broadband application service to a broadcast service as required for local content insertion (example: local banner or enriched TV content).

“With these new versions, we follow ATSC 3.0 early adopters to leapfrog the trial stage and to prepare their commercial roll-out with enriched content on top of the traditional linear TV services”, says Gilles TOQUET, Product Owner in charge of ATSC 3.0 at ENENSYS.

“These latest developments come as part of a global strategic roadmap plan to bring maximum added-value onto MediaCast and SmartGate. The next step for the team is now to work on the Emergency Alert Information implementation and STL security” adds Gilles.
