Movistar & Vodafone double subs additions of Orange

November 15, 2019

From David Del Valle in Madrid

Movistar and Vodafone are capturing double the number of pay-TV subscribers than rival Orange. As of September 30th, Movistar gained 52,000 new pay-TV customers in the last year to a total of 4,088,500; Vodafone achieved 47,000 additional subscribers to 1,307,000.

Orange only added 26,000 to reach 711,000 customers.

Orange is capturing fewer pay-TV subscribers than Vodafone despite the fact that it is offering football and has more broadband subscribers – 4.1 million versus Vodafone’s 3.16 million.

The three largest telco operators are now involved in a fierce battle to capture subscribers in the Christmas campaign in a very competitive market with the fourth largest operator, MásMóvil, increasingly gaining momentum.
