StarzPlay, the SVoD service from Starz, has acquired the DC superhero drama Doom Patrol. All 15 episodes of the first season will launch exclusively in the UK on January 2nd 2020.

The series reimagines one of DC’s most beloved group of Superheroes; Robotman aka Cliff Steele (played by Brendan Fraser), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton). The series also stars Alan Tudyk (“Powerless” Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, “Suburgatory”) as Mr. Nobody.

Part support group, part superhero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Currently in production on its second season, the series is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros International Television Distribution.

The series has proved a hit with fans and crtics alike following its release in the US earlier this year. It currently holds a ‘95% certified fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The STARZPLAY premium streaming service is available on the Apple TV app, Prime Video Channels and Virgin Media, giving subscribers access to series like Mr. Mercedes, Ramy and the recently released DC Comics Batman prequel Pennyworth, along with its growing selection of exclusive STARZ Originals on the same day they launch in the US, including The Spanish Princess and Vida, and hit movies like Shutter Island and A Dangerous Method.
