ESPN Player nets NHL rights

ESPN Player has secured the rights to broadcast three live NHL games a week in 61 countries.

The coverage starts this week in countries including Belgium, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Nigeria, South Africa, Hungary, Romania, and covers all of sub-Saharan Africa. Fans in the countries will be able to access three live games per week during the regular season, which will also be made available on demand, as the world’s best ice hockey teams compete to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In the NHL postseason, ESPN Player will make every game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs available live and on demand, from the first round through to the final.


Subscribers will also have access to ESPN Player’s comprehensive coverage of NCAA College Football and Basketball, as well as a range of critically acclaimed ESPN films and documentaries, including the Academy Award-winning five-part film, OJ: Made In America.
