Spain: UHD Association looks at 8K and HFR

A group of Spanish broadcasters and programme makers have joined to form ‘UHD Spain’ and with a focus on 4K as well as future iterations including 8K, Higher Frame Rates and Wider Colour Gamut.
They held their first meeting in Madrid on February 12th at the Prado del Rey offices of public broadcaster RTVE.
The meeting decided on a roadmap and timetable for the coming months and to continue the work of the University of Madrid in UHD developments. The organisation is a non-profit and echoes similar activity in France, Germany, Italy and the UK.
Attendees at the meeting included Prof. José Manuel Menéndez, from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), and Pere Vila, Adolfo Muñoz and Jesús García (RTVE), Ramón Sangrà and Amadeu Gassó (TV3), Jorge Rodríguez (Hispasat), Miguel Ángel Cristóbal (Sapec), Emili Planas (Mediapro), Yeray Alfageme (Olympic Channel), Carlos Castán (Canon), Motoshi Bito (Vestel), Cédric Pesier and Pablo Rodríguez (Ateme), Alfonso Carrera (Fraunhofer), María Medina and Ricardo Medina (Medina Media).
