Big changes at top Satellite 2020 meeting
March 4, 2020

Normally the annual Washington DC satellite show is a major event in the industry’s calendar. Normally, the best-attended session is the regular ‘Global Satellite Operator’ panel of CEO’s (on March 10th).
But Satellite 2020 has been badly affected by recent events within the industry. Privately, most CEOs will tell you that the panel is “one big yawn” (in the words of one regular) and while it is sometimes interesting to see the panellists interact with one another, precious little emerges in terms of news or information.
This year it appears that Intelsat’s CEO will not attend, nor Telesat’s Dan Goldberg. Add in the fears from Coronavirus and the session could be further affected.
The withdrawing CEOs means that some fresh blood can be in place, notably Mark Dankberg (Viasat), Pradman Kaul (Hughes/Echostar) and OneWeb’s Adrian Steckel.
