Blue Ant Media, an international content producer, distributor and channel operator, has launched Smithsonian Channel on myTV SUPER, bringing the non-fiction brand to the OTT platform’s 8.3 million+ registered users throughout Hong Kong.
The Smithsonian Channel is the latest addition to myTV SUPER from Blue Ant Media’s suite of premium channels, which also carries Blue Ant Entertainment, Blue Ant Extreme and Love Nature 4K. The deal is part of an ongoing partnership between Blue Ant Media and Smithsonian Networks to expand the brand’s footprint internationally.
Smithsonian Channel is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum, education and research complex. The channel continues to explore subjects from around the globe while breaking new ground with creative ideas, formats and genres that redefine non-fiction programming.
“We are thrilled to launch Smithsonian Channel in Hong Kong with our partner myTV SUPER,” said Beatrice Lee, CEO, Asia Pacific, Blue Ant Media. “Smithsonian Channel’s content is not necessarily about having all the answers, but about asking the most interesting questions. Complex narratives and characters, open-ended questions, and still-unsolved mysteries all resonate with what our modern audience wants from their entertainment experience. We envision Smithsonian Channel becoming the go-to factual channel for Hong Kong audiences to feed their curiosity and enrich their minds.”
“We are extremely excited to expand our relationship with Blue Ant Media and offer Smithsonian Channel to myTV SUPER subscribers. With the addition of Smithsonian Channel, myTV SUPER viewers now can enjoy award-winning original documentaries as well as historical, cultural and scientific heritage programmes across the globe.” added Kwai Hing Lam, COO, MyTV Super Limited.
Subscribers to myTV SUPER can watch Smithsonian Channel’s premium content on myTV SUPER (channel 407) as part of the Blue Ant Entertainment pack. The pack is available as a standalone subscription or as part of the myTV Gold subscription. Smithsonian Channel is available in the US, Canada, Latin America, Brazil, UK & Ireland, Sub-Saharan Africa, Singapore Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, and the Maldives.
