Canada-based Mondo Globo/MCNC has created a bouquet of more than 50 Arabic language channels for European viewing. The bundle is being carried by Eutelsat from its 13 degrees East ‘Hot Bird’ position.

Called Telearabia Max, viewers will need to buy a suitable Android-ready set-top box which will also handle OTT signals in addition to digital applications for mobile, tablet, and Android-equipped Smart TVs. The new service is available for a monthly subscription or pre-paid vouchers.

Subscribers will need to pay €199 a year for the first year plus a €10 monthly fee.

The project’s backers say this is the first fully legal platform of its kind in Europe for Arabic television.

“The Arabic content distribution landscape in Europe is polluted by many illegal and piracy platforms that do not have the legal rights to distribute and promote such content,” said Cedric Aoun, COO of the group.

“Mondo Globo/MCNC Group play a vital role in creating awareness and promoting the best interest of both the broadcaster and the viewer and is heavily engaged with different industry stakeholders to flush out such illegal activities and platforms to ensure consumer safety.”
