Abuja, Nigeria-based OurTV, which focuses on free-to-air TV channels, has launched a DTH bundle using NigComSat-1R.

Viewers need to buy a suitable set-top box and install a dish but there are then no charges or fees for viewing. The box has PVR and IP functionality and is capable of handling OTT services.

The bundle includes Al Jazeera news, movie, music and kids channels, as well as sports channels, religious and health channels and all-important ‘Nollywood’ series channel.

OurTV is a division of Trefoil Networks Limited and is licensed by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to provide a mix of services. Additional offerings include broadcast, network and internet solutions.

Commenting on the expansion, Braide Sayaba, Head of TV, Trefoil Networks Ltd, said: “We started our first transmission in 2015 but today, Trefoil Networks is flagging off sales of OurTV decoders nationwide. OurTV is the first and only H265 DTH Satellite TV in Africa with 18 exciting channels.”
