THEMA, a CANAL+ subsidiary, has announced the launch of family-friendly wildlife and nature brand, Love Nature, in two new European territories: Spain and Portugal.

Available in over 200 million households worldwide, via its branded linear and online platforms, Love Nature brings audiences powerful stories about the natural world that foster a deeper understanding of and connection to the planet we call home. With its award-winning library of 4K and HDR series and documentaries, Love Nature’s programming aims to forge emotional connections between audiences and the natural world, while also educating viewers with content that expands their knowledge about nature and animals.

Love Nature is already distributed by THEMA in Russia and Bulgaria, where the agent has brokered deals for the channel on some of the biggest operators in these markets, including Rostelecom, Tricolor and Bulsatcom.

“We’re delighted to partner with Thema to bring our award-winning 4K content to Spain and Portugal. The expansion of Love Nature will give even more audiences the chance to a front row seat to witness the beauty and wonder of nature,” said Jade Anderson-Busby, Sales and Marketing Manager, EMEA, Love Nature.

“THEMA is thrilled to play an active role in the rapid world expansion of the mind blowing content from Love Nature,” commented THEMA, Group CANAL+ subsidiary, Distribution Executive Vice President, Philippe Rouxel.

In celebration of World Rhino Day on September 22, Love Nature will honour all five rhino species (black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan) with a special programming marathon that includes rhino-themed episodes from original series, Guardians of the Wild.

The channel’s offering will also feature exclusive content from Love Nature’s celebrated 4K library, including The Big Dry (3×60’), a three-part series that charts the one of Africa’s most dramatic dry seasons in Zambia’s Luangwa Valley; Life’s Journey (3×60’), a three-part series that examines a group of Zambian animals and three stages of existence, from birth to infancy, through to adulthood and old age;  Land of Gremlins (3×60’), which introduces audiences to the wildlife Eden that is Madagascar; Mysteries of the Mekong (10×60), which travels through the Mekong basin, considered one of the most remote and bio-diverse regions in the world, through to China, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam; and Season 2 of Wildlife Icons (6×60), a six-part series that shines a spotlight on Africa’s wildlife.
