Skyworth Digital, the STB manufacturer, has introduced its first RDK Video Accelerator STB, powered by Amlogic, the fabless semiconductor company.
Skyworth has joined the RDK Video Accelerator programme, and unveiled a snew reference OTT STB that comes pre-integrated with the RDK application framework and the Metrological App Store. The STB gives service providers the ability to develop, test, and launch new video applications while maintaining full control over consumer-facing applications, user experience, and set-top box data.
RDK is an open source software platform for connected homes that standardizes core functions used in broadband, video, and IoT connected devices. RDK enables service providers to manage their devices; control their business models; and customize their apps, UIs and data analytics to improve the customer experience and drive business results.

Skyworth’s RDK Video Accelerator is a UHD IP-set top, running on the Amlogic S905X2 or S905X4 chipset with 2GB DDR4 + 8 or 16GB eMMC, 802.11ac dual band 2×2 Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 5), Bluetooth (BTLE) 4.2, supporting Dolby Vision, all in a compact size of 105 x 105 x 25mm.
