Freaks 4U Gaming streams live with qibb

September 22, 2020

Book, deploy, stream: Launching digital channels is just that simple with the cloud playout automation q.air which is based on Techtriq’s multicloud management platform qibb. For the social media live streaming of their program Gamevasion during the virtual gamescom 2020, gaming and eSports agency Freaks 4U Gaming expanded their playout capacities with q.air.

Freaks 4U Gaming simultaneously streamed on six different Twitch and YouTube channels in cooperation with the gaming agency INSTINCT3, the live streaming channel Rocket Beans TV and the influencers HandOfBlood, Maxim, Rewinside and Trymacs. Thanks to the cloud-based and flexible pay-as-you-go model, costs were only incurred during the five-day event. The concept of q.air is therefore a perfect fit for both the use as a permanent cloud playout solution and for the short-term capacity expansion for temporary or recurring events and productions.

q.air is based on the multicloud management platform qibb and orchestrates cloud applications from several manufacturers for ingest, playout, automation, and graphics to create a cost-efficient and scalable workflow. Video content playout can be realized in different formats and resolutions on numerous distribution channels such as OTT, broadcast, social media or IPTV.

“We have worked with various streaming and playout solutions but none of them has ever been as flexible and intuitive to handle as q.air,” said Timo Krey, Senior Broadcast Engineer responsible for Gamevasion at Freaks 4U Gaming. “During the production, we had to be able to switch back and forth between several streams without a delay from the studios in Berlin and Hamburg. We took our first steps together with the cloud solution q.air and were very happy how it turned out for the launch. We were particularly pleased how smoothly the location-independent cooperation between our locally distributed teams for tasks like ingest, multichannel scheduling and playout went.”

Gamevasion was streamed live and parallel to this years’ gamescom, which took place digitally due to the coronavirus pandemic. Together with their partners, Freaks 4U Gaming produced and streamed more than 80 hours of live content. In total, INSTINCT3, Rocket Beans TV and Freaks 4U Gaming address an audience of nearly four million Twitch subscribers and approximately 7.5 million YouTube subscribers with their popular influencers.

The Gamevasion program streamed with q.air consisted of a variety of entertainment formats such as Prime Time Gamescom, Let’s Plays, eSports tournaments or gaming quiz shows.
