BT, Transatel renew UK 5G partnership

November 25, 2020

BT and Transatel have renewed their partnership meaning that UK MVNOs of all sizes can continue to benefit from Transatel’s value-added services. That includes utility companies (Utilita, Ecotalk), community-based MVNOs (China Telecom Europe), B2B reseller MVNOs (Abzorb), and retail MVNO brands (Plusnet, The Phone Co-op). Transatel’s partnership with BT Wholesale has also helped it expand beyond traditional MVNOs to serve charitable organisations, local providers, food distributors and discounters.

Alex Tempest, Managing Director BT Wholesale, commented: “For over 12 years, we have proven a successful relationship with Transatel, and as we firmly enter a period of data-driven business outcomes, we are very pleased to support Transatel with superior voice and data solutions, from the UK’s number one network. As the largest wholesale provider of telecommunications services in Europe, BT values working with Transatel and its customers to grow our wholesale business.”

With the agreement in place, Transatel will have enhanced access to EE’s leading coverage footprint, with 4G available approximately 95 per cent of the time according to Opensignal analysis, higher than any other MNO. EE, part of BT Group, also continues to be the UK’s leading mobile network operator in terms of network performance, recently winning best network for 4G and 5G according to RootMetrics. EE’s 5G network is now live in over 100 locations across the UK, more than any other network.

Jacques Bonifay, Transatel’s CEO, added: “Our clients enjoy a true competitive advantage through our relationship with the UK’s best network. It’s the strongest foundation for building value-added services such as cutting-edge online charging systems, real-time CDRs, and Fixed-Mobile Convergence. And it’s a guarantee of quality and reliability that our clients can use to reduce churn.”
