Gigaclear opens new warehouse in Swindon

January 11, 2021

Gigaclear, the rural broadband provider, has increased its capability to expand its ultrafast, full-fibre network across Britain by opening up a new office and warehousing facility in Swindon, designed to support headquarters, act as a central distribution hub, and supply its workforce with stock and equipment.

The company, which has continued to connect rural communities throughout lockdown, is in the process of hiring 120 new recruits to a direct labour team. The warehouse will provide Gigaclear the opportunity to continue working alongside its subcontractors while bringing more of its installation, maintenance and repair work in-house.

Nathan Rundle, Delivery Director at Gigaclear, explains: “The warehouse will give our team a new base, allowing us to further accelerate the expansion of our network.”

The 11,000ft2 warehouse also includes meeting rooms and office space, with Gigaclear permanently relocating some of its finance and HR staff to Swindon. In addition, all physical procurement for the organisation will now take place out of the new unit.

Nathan continues: “We’re excited to make Swindon our home. It’s strategically located for us and will serve as a great central distribution point for the business.

“Our critical worker status has meant that 2020 has been a busy year for us. We’ve continued to expand our network, helping families to stay in touch, allowing people to work from home, keeping communities connected, and so much more.

“We’re excited to build on our progress and ramp up our build activity even further in 2021. Our new facility is going to help us be even more efficient. All of the equipment that we need to expand our network will be stored in it – from screwdrivers to reels of full-fibre – and it will really open up new build opportunities for us.”
