January 12, 2021
Intertrust has announced that Cellnex Telecom will use its ExpressPlay DRM cloud service to protect Cellnex’s LOVEStv, a digital TV platform for use in the Spanish market. With the selection of ExpressPlay DRM, Cellnex joins the bevy of digital television service operators in the European market who have chosen Intertrust’s content protection services.
ExpressPlay DRM is a complete multi-DRM monetization service for OTT streaming and is proven to protect the distribution of premium content issued by major global studios and content rights owners at scale. Jointly developed with the broadcasting companies Atresmedia, Mediaset España, and RTVE, LOVEStv is an HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV) standard-based platform that allows Spanish broadcasters to provide a compelling free-to-view hybrid television service combining digital over-the-air broadcast television with OTT streaming enabled services such as catch-up television or the option to watch an on-air program from the beginning. ExpressPlay DRM will be used to protect any OTT streaming content delivered over the LOVEStv platform.
“We are pleased and honored to welcome Cellnex and LOVEStv as the latest European partner to rely on ExpressPlay DRM,” said Ali Hodjat, Product Marketing Director, Media Solutions at Intertrust. “LOVEStv gives consumers the chance to enjoy experiences that a hybrid broadcast and OTT platform can provide and we look forward to working with Cellnex to support the success of this converged service.”
“LOVEStv is the perfect platform for Spanish broadcasters to deepen their engagement with their customers,” said Xavi Redón, Senior Product Manager at Cellnex. “Intertrust’s long term experience and technology expertise behind ExpressPlay DRM gives both us and our partners the confidence that their services will be widely enjoyed while continuing to protect content.”
