Bigblu Broadband is to offer high speed broadband-by-satellite to users in New Zealand.
Bigblu sold its European business to Eutelsat last year. Its new service will use capacity from the Kacific-1 satellite which was launched in December 2019.
Kacific will provide financial support to Bigblu to include an investment in customer user terminals. Bigblu will take care of sales, marketing and end-user support and installation of equipment.
Bigblu, now headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, says it would initially target winning 3500 customers. It expects to break even after about 20 months.
CEO Andrew Walwyn said: “As per the European operations that we successfully sold we aim to deliver faster, cheaper broadband with increasingly attractive data packages. Importantly, this will provide us with a basis to further grow recurring revenues and also provides an entry point into the wider Asia-Pacific region.”
