Netflix adds ‘Downloads For You’ feature

Netflix has rolled out Downloads For You, a new feature that automatically downloads recommended shows or movies to a user’s mobile device based on their personal taste.
In a blog post, Patrick Flemming, Director of Product Innovation at Netflix, explained: “Three years ago, we introduced Smart Downloads so you can find the next episode of your favorite show – even when you’re on the go. Now, we want to make discovering your next new favorite series or film quick and easy whether you’re connected or not. Today we’re launching Downloads For You, a new feature that automatically downloads recommended shows or movies to your mobile device based on your tastes. Whether you’re a comedy fan stuck on a long car ride or a rom com lover without internet, we do the work so there is always something new waiting to entertain and delight you.”
Netflix users can opt in the feature by going to the downloads tab on their mobile device and toggling on Downloads For You. There, they can set amount of content they want downloaded (1GB, 3GB, or 5GB) and click ‘Turn On’. The more space they allow, the more recommendations Netflix will download.
The feature is available immediately on Android globally, and Netflix says it will be “testing it soon” on iOS.
