Netflix movie Birdbox, which set viewing records on the streaming platform when it was released in December 2019, is getting a spin-off sequel.

Netflix said that the yet to be titled film will be a “Spanish spin-off from the Bird Box universe” and production will begin towards the end of this year in Spain.

Producers Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan and Susanne Bier will all serve as producers on the movie having also worked on the first instalment.

The Birdbox movie, starring Sandra Bullock and John Malkovich, tells the story of the human race trying to protect itself from entities which push people who look at them to suicide.
