David E. Talbert and Lyn Sisson-Talbert have signed a first-look deal to write, direct and produce movies for Netflix, via their production company Golden Alchemy.

The deal follows the success of Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, Netflix’s first original live-action musical. Talbert wrote, directed and produced the hit film, which was also produced by Sisson-Talbert.

Talbert commented: “Working with Scott Stuber, Tendo Nagenda, Nick Nesbitt and the entire Netflix team was a filmmaker’s dream. Lyn and I have never been more inspired to put the band back together to create event films that are culturally relevant and globally entertaining.

Scott Stuber, head of Netflix Films, added: “David and Lyn are a one-of-a-kind filmmaking team, with an eye for entertaining and a vision for inclusive storytelling. With Jingle Jangle, they created an instant holiday classic and welcomed us into their family and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them join ours.”

Previously, Talbert directed, wrote and executive produced the hit feature film Almost Christmas for Universal. He also directed, wrote and produced Baggage Claim for Fox Searchlight and First Sunday for Sony Pictures. Additionally, he directed El Camino Christmas for Netflix.

Sisson-Talbert has authored two children’s books as companions to Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey – the middle-grade book Jingle Jangle: The Invention of Jeronicus Jangle and the illustrated children’s book, The Square Root of Possible: A Jingle Jangle Story. She has also executive produced Almost Christmas, Baggage Claim and El Camino Christmas, among others.
